The purpose of the D2 is to address the need for a lightweight two-seat sportscar that can fully handle the rigorous demands of a racetrack and yet have the ability of being legally registered for the street. This is accomplished using a 50-state emissions legal engine package and an exo-skeletal chassis architecture with significant enhancements in rigidity, safety, handling, and ability to handle power.
For street use the D2 is sold as a kit with the customer purchasing the powertrain separately from third-party vendors in order to comply with kit car requirements.
A variety of assembly and assembly assistance options are available including turn-key delivery.
The D2 is designed primarily to use the GM LS3 'e-Rod kit' which is 50-state emissions compliant, however the strength and adaptability of the D2 chassis allows numerous other engine options. The design is mid-engine, rear wheel drive, weighing approximately 1,600 lbs with power in the 400-700 hp range depending on engine choice. A large number of transaxle types can be used, including those from Porsche, Mendeola, Subaru, Hewland and others.
Palatov Motorsport is able to configure a D2 precisely to fit a customer's preference and budget.
